Initially, his whole production was sold in bulk, but when eldest son Benoît returned in 2008 after his degree in viticulture and enology, they started to bottle their own wine. Organic conversion began in 2010. They now farm around 25 hectares and moved to a ‘new’ cellar in the town of Oudon for the 2017 harvest. They have a mix of varieties planted, including Melon de Bourgogne, Folle Blanche, Pinot Gris, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2013 Benoît started making sparkling wines, producing a selection of lively and bright pet-nats. The climate of the Coteaux de la Loire is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and the Loire River. It is a soft climate; not too cold, not too warm, and a little rainy – with hilly relief to the edge of the Loire. It allows for deep roots, so good ripeness. the moderate temperature in summer allows for freshness in the wine. The ocean winds follow the Loire and reduce the humidity in the air. They make wines with freshness and personality; expressing the diverse mix of soils that Muscadet offers – roundness from gneiss, and more minerality from schist.

Pairing Ideas

Seafood / Veggies

Vintage: 2023
Region: Saumur, France
Viticulture: Organic and Biodynamic
Grape varieties: 100% Chenin Blanc

Manoir de la Tête Rouge Tête d’Ange is a natty Chenin Blanc from the Saumur region of Loire Valley. His wines are above all the expression and the reflection of the terroirs in a small village not far from Saumur in the Loire Valley. Mainly chalk tufa and Jurassic limestone, a plateau that is thin-stony. The Mauges–Massif, 40 km west of Le Puy Notre Dame, prevents heavy rainfall, which means that the Cabernet Franc gets a better ripeness and can be harvested in October. Guillaume began his career as a winemaker in 1995 with the purchase of a mansion in need of renovation and 4 hectares of Cabernet Franc. Bio-certified since 1998 and certified biodynamically since 2010, he now has 18 hectares, including a parcel of Pineau d’Aunis, a grape that was forgotten and vilified in the Saumur region, but which is being appreciated more and more over the last couple of years.

About Chenin Blanc

Chenin Blanc is a versatile white-wine grape variety that has been cultivated in France for nearly 1300 years. It is most commonly associated with France’s Loire Valley, and its high acidity levels mean it can be vinified in a number of different styles: as lusciously sweet, botrytis-affected dessert wines, light, honeyed sparkling wines, and as full-bodied, still white wines.

The variety has had its ups and downs throughout its long history. Official French documents first mention Chenin Blanc as early as the year 845, and the variety has appeared in various parts of the Loire under a multitude of synonyms since. The grape fell out of fashion somewhat in the early 20th Century, but renewed interest in the 1980s has reinvigorated Chenin Blanc’s position as a classic and noble grape variety.

Pairing Ideas

Asian Cuisines / Seafood

Vintage: 2023
Region: Burgundy, France
Viticulture: Organic and Biodynamic
Grape varieties: 100% Chardonnay

The Sous Frétille vineyard is steeply-sloping, facing due south. The terroir here is thick, broken layers of limestone and clay, and has iron-rich topsoil loess, perfect for growing Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes as well as white grapes such as Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc.

Isabelle, whose grandparents were farmers, grew up with her hands in the soil. So, when she met Florent, her husband and member of one of the original Bordeaux wine families, naturally she started working the vines with Florent and his father. She then got a technical degree in winemaking and wine business, began managing the estate in 1994, and today is running Château Laubarit, one of the cleanest and greenest estates in all of Bordeaux

Vintage: 2023
Region: Rhone Valley, France
Viticulture: Organic
Grape varieties: Shiraz/Syrah

The Domaine Jean Esprit 2023 Crozes-Hermitage is a vibrant Northern Rhône Syrah that reflects the estate’s commitment to organic farming and terroir-driven winemaking. Grown on clay and limestone terraces, the wine opens with aromatic notes of blackberry, blueberry, and pungent game, layered with hints of tobacco, oak, and earthy spice. Its medium body and lively acidity are balanced by soft tannins, creating a supple yet structured mouthfeel. The finish is long and pleasantly savory, showcasing the classic peppery and herbal nuances of Syrah. This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled beef, venison, and poultry, as well as earthy dishes like mushroom ragout or rosemary-infused root vegetables, where its depth and spice complement the richness of the food.

<div class="et_pb_column et_pb_column_1_2 et_pb_column_2_tb_body appellation, domaine combier and domaine graillot. the terroir and style of wine is thus very similar, driven by drinkability, finesse and elegance. the reds are made from syrah, and whites from marsanne and roussanne. syrah, implanted in its original cradle, offers here a fine balance between the fruit and the tannins. red crozes-hermitage is a wine of elegance, balance and pleasure. whites have a beautiful golden color, fat in the mouth, floral and balanced. they also reveal a pretty nose of white flowers with a hint of nuts. the soil tipicity rests on rolled pebbles and gravels from different ices ages mixed with red clay and forming reliefs called plateaus and terraces. jean esprit started making wine in 2017 and is quickly becoming one of the rising stars of the
